Student Motorsport Competition Returns to Snetterton as Elliot Lettis Joins NESCOT College Racing for Remainder of 2025

The Student Motorsport Competition, part of the BRSCC Nankang Tyre CityCar Cup Championship, returns to the Snetterton 300 circuit for rounds 9 & 10 of the 2025 season. It is the second visit of the year to the Norfolk circuit for the world’s leading race series for schools, colleges and universities that provides meaningful trackside experience for the next generation of motorsport professionals.

The SM Media team, made up of Andy Lloyd (Head of Media), Bernice Bradley (Head of Photography) and JP Latham (Operations), alongside the squad of Work Experience candidates looks forward to welcoming all the teams back to Snetterton on Friday.

Weekend Focus

For the Snetterton weekend, alongside the on-track action, the Student Motorsport Competition will be focused on, and gathering more evidence for, the Team Professionalism Award, which will be presented at the end-of-season 2025 BRSCC Awards.

The Student Motorsport Team Professionalism Award celebrates the team that has exemplified the highest standards of conduct, presentation and organisation throughout every stage of the competition, from pre-race preparations through to post-race interaction. Areas that will come under the scrutiny of the Student Motorsport Competition team will be how well roles are structured and defined within the competing teams and how they contribute towards operational excellence. The conduct and behaviour of team members will be observed in addition to how well the team prepares and organises its working area. The presentation of team members in branded teamwear and their conduct in the paddock will also be one of the areas that will contribute towards the Team Professionalism Award.

“Motorsport is a highly competitive and investment-intensive industry which demands the highest standards of management, organisation, preparation and presentation,” said Student Motorsport Founder and Competition Organiser John Paul ‘JP’ Latham. “To prepare our students and learners for their future careers, the Student Motorsport Team Professionalism Award acknowledges teams that run their racing campaigns to professional standards and demonstrate that on-track success is not the only measure of success in the SMo paddock.”

History Made

History was made last time out at Anglesey when Student Motorsport Competition entries not only locked out the front row for Race One after qualifying with BCR’s Stuart Bliss and Andrew Dyer starting from pole and 2nd on the grid respectively, but also filling the overall podium positions in races 1 & 2. The results demonstrate how competitive SMo Competition teams now are and how much the Competition and its teams have evolved since their formation less than four years ago.

April in Snetterton

The SMo Competition first visited Snetterton for the opening weekend in April. Over the course of that weekend, Boston College Racing showed their early-season form with drivers Stuart Bliss and Andrew Dyer both finishing on the podium across all three races. On that occasion, Bliss took two wins with teammate Dyer taking two 2nd-place finishes and a 3rd.

Since then, Team Northbrook Racing has unlocked the pace in its new-for-2025 #65 Gen II Peugeot 107 with driver Richard Jepp taking a trio of 2nd-place finishes last time out at Trac Mon Anglesey. Allowing for dropped scores, TNR1 sits 2nd in the class standings on 74 points, just four points behind the #18 Boston College Racing / Autobliss entry.

West Suffolk College ME’s Brady Pollock, who took three class wins in 2024 on his way to finishing 2nd in the title standings, recovered his form after a frustrating start to the season and took his first Competition class win at Anglesey to currently lie 3rd in the class standings on 65 points.

The 4.778 kms of Snetterton 300 circuit is well known to almost all of the 14 Student Motorsport Competition drivers racing in Norfolk, so the double-header should offer fierce competition with the potential of new teams on the podium.

City College Norwich returns to its home circuit for rounds 9 & 10 with a new driver. Elliot Lettis, who drove for Leon Wilde’s squad from early in the 2024 season, has moved to NESCOT College Racing for the remainder of the year, and Glenn Bee returns to drive the team’s Gen I Peugeot 107 until they announce their new driver for the remaining rounds of the season from Silverstone in August.

Bee joined CCN for 2024 for his novice season in cars and drove to a 10th place finish in the class standings after a year which had seen the Norwich-based auto electrical business owner take a best finish of 8th in class at Silverstone’s round 14. CCN currently lies 11th in the standings on 36 points after dropped scores.

Meanwhile, ex-CCN pilot Elliot Lettis has moved to George Keith’s NESCOT College Racing squad and will drive the team’s Gen I Peugeot 107. Budgetary changes necessitated the move, and George Keith will be confident that, in 2023 CityCar Cup champion, he has a driver who can fully unlock the potential of their race car. We can expect to see NESCOT College Racing competing at the sharp end of the grid when the Competition travels to Snetterton.

Alongside NESCOT College Racing, Brooklands Technical College have made their debut in the Student Motorsport Competition this season. After making their first on-track appearance at Oulton Park, which sadly resulted in a DNF and an early departure, driver Junior Gravina-Read got the team back on track and performed well, finishing all three contests at Anglesey. Dropped scores mean that the team’s late start to the season is not as costly as it might have been, and with 20 points on the board, the team can start to build momentum for a second-half push up the points table.

East Surrey College will be looking to re-group at Snetterton after a frustrating visit to North Wales. Jack Wheeler could only manage two race finishes at Anglesey, bringing the #57 Citroen C1 home 14th and 11th in class. Laurence Sait’s Redhill-based team know they can challenge for class victories, and after some behind-the-scenes thorough preparation, they will be pushing hard in Norfolk to improve on their current 9th place in the Competition standings.

Team Northbrook Racing, led by Emma Norton from Northbrook College’s Shoreham campus, knows they can challenge for overall wins and class podiums and, with Anglesey’s Gen II breakthrough behind them, will surely be looking for class wins in Norfolk. Ahead of rounds 9 & 10, driver of the #65 TNR1 Peugeot Richard Jepp has announced a new collaboration with Pro-Am Racing and the Women’s Engineering Society.

“Together, we’re working to connect female engineers to real-world engineering opportunities through motorsport,” said Richard Jepp. “Motorsport remains one of the most challenging environments for gender diversity, and that’s why we’re committed to supporting and increasing visibility for women in engineering, especially within this high-performance space.”

Teammate Ari Barker, driver of the sister #87 TNR2 Peugeot, had a flying start to the season, finishing 4th in class in round 2. Anglesey saw Barker complete a trio of top ten in class finishes and, with his experience increasing at every round, we can expect to see the #87 driver competing for more top five SMo Competition finishes at Snetterton.

Sussex Motorsports’ season, their second in the Student Motorsport Competition, has seen drivers Alex Jackson and Toby Owen regularly claiming top-five finishes in class. Jackson, driver of the team’s #47 Citroen C1, scored a 4th place finish in class at Oulton Park while teammate Owen secured two 5th place Competition finishes last time out at Anglesey. Shiv Bhagnari’s team continues to grow in confidence and experience, so could we see a Sussex Motorsports entry on the Competition podium in Norfolk? We wouldn’t bet against it!

Alan Barrett’s West Suffolk College found their pace at Anglesey with a storming drive from Brady Pollock to take the class win in Race 3 in Wales. At the wheel of the team’s #12 Toyota Aygo, Pollock narrowly missed out on the Competition title in 2024, but for a missed gear shift at Silverstone, could well have broken Team Northbrook Racing’s stranglehold on the title. With his confidence restored, Pollock will be hungry for more podium success at Snetterton.

Teammate Haydn Payne, driving the sister #72 Toyota, is only 10 points behind Pollock in the standings. Now working as a driver for Jonathan Palmer’s MotorSport Vision, Payne has accumulated significant performance driving experience and his determination has not yet been rewarded with a podium finish in 2025. Payne will be one to watch in the Norfolk sunshine.

Driving WSC’s third entry at Snetterton will be Ben Bee, son of Glenn Bee, who is racing with City College Norwich at Snetterton. Ben Bee is currently in his rookie season and is growing in confidence in every outing.

Lee Crisp’s Boston College Racing has dominated the Student Motorsport Competition in 2025, and drivers Stuart Bliss and Andrew Dyer have only missed two podium finishes out of their combined 14 races. The front row lock-out for race 1 at Anglesey confirmed the competitiveness of the BCR duo, and the disappointment of being beaten by Team Northbrook Racing and WSC ME will increase their determination to get back on top at Snetterton.

Student Motorsport founder and Competition organiser is looking forward to returning to Snetterton.

“Student Motorsport teams have enjoyed great success at Snetterton. So much so that in 2023 East Surrey College’s Jack Wheeler took one of our first overall podiums in the wet at this circuit,” he said. “With the experience that most of the teams and drivers have around the Snetterton 300 circuit, we can expect another fantastic weekend of on-track competition.

“This weekend we will not only be focused on racing success but also gathering evidence for our end-of-season Team Professionalism Award. To support this, we shall be looking out for that extra degree of organisation, presentation and behaviour for which our teams are renowned for.

“With 14 cars on the grid at Snetterton, the success of the Student Motorsport Competition is clear for everyone to see. In addition, we have already signed up two teams who will be bringing three cars to the grid in 2026, so the future is looking very bright for world-class learner-focused racing in the UK.”
