New Records

Anglesey Circuit saw history made at Rounds 6, 7 and 8 of the Student Motorsport Competition, part of the BRSCC Nankang Tyre CityCar Cup Championship, when the two Boston College Racing (BCR) entries driven by Andrew Dyer and Stuart Bliss and the Team Northbrook Racing 1 Peugeot 108 piloted by Richard Jepp, filled the top three overall podium places in Races 1 & 2.

Helpful Note: As with all of our press releases, coupled with the educational aspect to our motor racing competition, we will be featuring a large number of images and media (not always seen in regular motor racing media). This media has been recorded and produced by our media team and Work Experience Candidates, which we are sure you can appreciate. Throughout the weekend, the Student Motorsport Media Team, which is made up of Student Motorsport Mentors and Work Experience Candidates caught up with many of our teams, gaining insights into their media activities…look out for some of the insights on our social media channels from the Anglesey weekend.

Qualifying

Qualifying saw overall and class pole go to Stuart Bliss in the #18 BCR1 Toyota with a 1:58.416 with the sister #15 BCR2 Toyota driven by Andrew Dyer joining Bliss on the front row. Triple Competition title holder Richard Jepp was starting to find the pace in the new #65 Gen II TNR1 Peugeot and qualified third in class, with Brady Pollock recovering from his disappointing start to the 2025 season by qualifying the #12 WSC ME Toyota fourth in class.

Race 1

Andrew Dyer headed into the lead going into Turn 1 in the first race, and pulled out an advantage as a three-car group, including BCR1 and TNR1, battled for second place. At the start of the fourth lap, SMo Competition entries filled four of the top five overall positions. As the 15-minute race moved into its final third, the two BCR cars were first and second but Richard Jepp now had the pace to challenge Stuart Bliss for second and passed the BCR1 car on the final lap to secure the first ever overall podium lock-out for Student Motorsport entries.

Brady Pollock in the #12 WSC ME Toyota finished fifth overall and fourth in class followed by the #42 Sussex Motorsports Citroen driven by Toby Owen,  the #87 TNR2 Peugeot of Ari Barker and the #174 QE Motorsport Peugeot driven by Emilia Vincent.

All Student Motorsport entries finished Race One with the fastest lap set by Richard Jepp with a 1:58.692.

Andrew Dyer was delighted to have controlled the race to bring the 15 BCR2 car home for his first win of the season.

“It was just about keeping lap times consistent, making sure I didn’t make any errors so they could have a run on me,” he said. “I had to concentrate going into Turn 2 but I had enough of a gap just down the back straight so they couldn’t tow past me. I just had to stay away from that tow.

“My tyres went off so it became a case of getting Turn 2 right but I did mess up on one lap and Stuart Bliss got a lot closer but the battle between Stuart and Richard kind of saved me.”

For BCR Team Principal Lee Crisp the hard work of bringing the team to Anglesey was rewarded with two drivers on the podium.

“It was a very good result for the team and it’s always nice to come this distance and get a win in the first race,” he said. “Anglesey is a difficult place to race at because you never know what you’re going to be faced with weather-wise but the strategy worked and both drivers worked together extremely well.

“Let’s see what Race Two brings!”

Race 2

For Race Two, BCR2 and Andrew Dyer started from pole and after one lap, he and Richard Jepp had pulled out an advantage of over one second to the #21 car.

With eight laps run, Jepp in the TNR1 car was pushing Dyer hard and almost lost control at Rocket, allowing the BCR2 car to pull away. Stuart Bliss took advantage to get up to the rear bumper of Jepp and a three-car train consisting of Dyer, Jepp and Bliss.

Bliss in the BCR1 car passed Jepp in the closing stages but with the risk of a penalty for passing under a yellow flag, the BCR1 driver wisely gave the position and for the second time over the weekend, BCR2 took the overall win followed by TNR1 and BCR2, giving Student Motorsport its second overall podium lock-out.

Race 3

With the shaken-up grid, things were different for Race Three and Brady Pollock in the #12 WSC ME entry made a blistering start from seventh on the grid to get up to third overall and first in class, before moving into second overall.

There was a terrific scrap between the Jepp in the TNR1 Peugeot and the two BCR cars with, at one stage, Jepp being squeezed between the two. Meanwhile Pollock was away at the front, setting fastest lap in the process.

At the chequered flag, Pollock took his first Competition victory of the weekend with TNR1 second in class and BCR2 third. Stuart Bliss in the #18 BCR1 Toyota came home in ninth overall and fourth in class followed by the #47 Sussex Motorsports Citroen of Alex Jackson and the sister #42 car piloted by Toby Owen.

Haydn Payne driving the #72 WSC ME2 Toyota finished seventh in class followed by the #174 QE Motorsport Peugeot of Emilia Vincent, the #333 CCN Peugeot of Elliot Lettis and the #87 TNR2 Peugeot of Ari Barker.

Race 3 Highlights

Race Three saw Brooklands Technical College complete all three contests in a Student Motorsport weekend after making their debut at a curtailed Oulton Park weekend in May.

For Brady Pollock, the result showed that, after a disappointing start to the season, the title is still in sight for the young WSC driver.

“We knew we had the pace all weekend, so to finally put the race together and get a good result this season means so much to myself and the team. I really feel this is a turning point.

My confidence in the car is at an all-time high so I don’t see why we can’t keep the momentum up and do the same at Snetterton!”

Our Founder’s Thoughts

For Student Motorsport founder and Competition organiser John Paul ‘JP’ Latham, Anglesey had been a huge success.

“What a fantastic weekend we have enjoyed at Anglesey!” he said. “It was another packed grid for Student Motorsport with 14 cars competing, and we have received even more enquiries for 2026, which is shaping up to be our biggest season yet.

“Congratulations to Boston College Racing and Team Northbrook Racing for their overall CityCar Cup Championship podium finishes and for giving the Competition its first overall podium lock-out. It demonstrates how competitive our entries are and how hard our students are working to prepare fast race cars.

“I must make a special mention of Brooklands Technical College who completed all three races, and to NESCOT Racing and their Team Principal George Keith, who worked very hard to get here and compete.

“Our well wishes also to Elliot Lettis, driver at City College Norwich who embarks on a new adventure with NESCOT College Racing, we look forward to seeing his successes with his new team, and City College Norwich revealing their new driver ahead of Snetterton in July!

“Our Student Motorsport Work Experience Media Team continues to provide excellent content and images, allowing us to market the Competition across all social media channels.

“Although Boston College Racing lead the standings, Anglesey has shown how competitive the Student Motorsport Competition is, and I can’t wait for Snetterton for more exciting on-track action from our teams!”

After Round 8 of the 2025 Student Motorsport Competition, and after allowing for dropped scores, Boston College Racing 1 / Autobliss leads the standings on 78 points with Team Northbrook Racing 1 just four points behind on 74 points. After their class win at Anglesey, West Suffolk College ME move into third in the standings on 65 points, with the Boston College Racing 2 / RTW Vans and Conversions two points behind in fourth.

The middle of the table shows how competitive the 2025 Student Motorsport Competition has become with West Suffolk College ME2 fifth in the standings on 54 points, followed by Sussex Motorsport 1 on 52 points, Black Sheep Racing / Sussex Motorsports 2 on 50, Team Northbrook Racing 2 on 49, East Surrey College on 42 and QE Motorsport on 41 points.

City College Norwich on 36 points, NESCOT Racing on 34 points, West Suffolk College BEE and Brooklands Technical College complete the standings.

Making its second visit of the season to the Norfolk circuit, the Student Motorsport Competition is next out on track at Snetterton on July the 19th and 20th.
