Rob was a level 3 motorsport student from The College of West Anglia. He was selected to take part in one of the Student Motorsport projects after we were contacted and received recommendation from one of his motorsport tutors at the college. Rob started on our Student Motorsport project in September 2011 as a general support crew member working with Stratton Motorsport.  There he helped in the testing and running of an Aston Martin GT4 race car which was entered into the Aston Martin GT4 Challenge.

Rob also enjoyed working on a number of other Student Motorsport projects we have run which you will be able to read about on our site in the projects area.  After working to improve their respective motorsport skills and industry experience Rob was able to secure a role at the college he studied at as a motorsport technician and continued to support Mintron Racing and also went on to work with Thatchway Motorsport with their Radical Sr4 during the 2012 season.  Rob told us: “I was involved in the Student Motorsport projects in the early stages of the site, they took me under their wing and gave me many opportunities working with motorsport teams.  Getting involved with them has without doubt doubled my confidence and ability with working with different types of race cars.”

"I was able to improve my skills in areas such as race car setup, mechanics and team operations.  I really appreciate being selected for this great opportunity." Robert Sykes
