How I contribute to Student Motorsport

"Hi I'm David, I run a team of 38 students who have designed, built, test and run two single-seater electric race cars in the Greenpower Formula 24 and Formula 24+ categories. I am excited to be involved and contributing to such a good cause. In addition to being a Student Motorsport member we as a Greenpower team will contribute to the Resource Centre by creating factual and interesting articles in order to educate those involved within the Greenpower project and the motorsport industry. These will be related to building up a picture of our team’s 'journey' through the Greenpower project.

We aim to work together to raise the importance of such a good project and incentive for young people becoming interested and involved in green energy, engineering and the wider motor and motorsport industries."

What I do

"Physics teacher and lead on the Greenpower project at Arthur Terry School, the first Greenpower Centre of Excellence and currently the only school- based Centre of Excellence.Torque Human Performance comprises of Jacob Leaver and Leanne Holder, both who are MSc Strength and Conditioning Qualified. Together they are motorsport performance enhancement specialists that work to coach drivers, engineers and people involved in motorsport by advising them on their physical fitness and nutritional intake in order for them to be at the peak of their career. They pride themselves on delivering a professional and personalised service ensuring that each client gets specific work tailored to their area of motorsport.

I am thrilled to be personally supported by such a professional team of fitness, nutrition and well-being experts. It was fantastic to meet Jacob and Leanne at Autosport International in January 2017 and I look forward to supporting our members through their professional services and advice." More about me

"I was formerly a Crime Scene Investigator, I worked all over the UK for various law enforcement agencies and also deployed to Afghanistan as part of the Counter IED Task Force. I have two sons, aged 16 and 19, I own and ride a vintage motorcycle and hold a private pilot’s licence.

I am really pleased to be working with Student Motorsport as we share a similar passion of supporting the education of people involved in engineering and motorsport in order to get the best results possible. I feel that this relationship between the school and Student Motorsport will open many opportunities not only for us but for the Student Motorsport members and will encourage their members to better themselves daily in the preparation for their careers.” Dean Batty
