How I contribute to Student Motorsport

"Hi, my name is Alan and I have two passions in life, photography and motorsport.  I became involved in Student Motorsport through the founder JP after striking up a friendship with him on the Formula Renault scene.

I don’t have all the answers about motorsport photography but I am happy to share my experience with you if you share my passion."

What I do

Alan started by photographing club race meetings at his local track and then got involved with In2Racing, who competed in the Porsche GT3 championship.

Alan has also followed the Formula Renault circuit this season and is a well-known face in the paddock.  Alan admits motorsport photography is not an easy genre to break into but if it’s something you love, you just have to keep perfecting your craft and produce the images that people want.

More about me

"I am mainly self-taught, as exams were never my thing, but I have worked hard to learn my craft and have been photographing motor sport since 2006.  I am very lucky that I have been able to combine the two as a motor sport photographer.  As a child I went on a school trip to London and returned with 7 rolls of film, which my poor mother developed.  To her horror I had spent the whole time photographing pigeons!  I’ve moved on since then but the enthusiasm for photography has remained."
