Student Motorsport are proud to welcome Velocity Racing to our new website, we are collaborating with them to raise awareness of and support their entry into the F1 in Schools competition. We're also aiming to share information on their activities, progress and success and inspire other pupils, our members, students, graduates and aspiring automotive and motorsport professionals.
What they do...
Velocity Racing is a group of six school students currently participating in the F1 in Schools challenge all engaged in STEM and other motorsport related areas. Every year, over 15000 teams from over 40 nations compete in the F1 Schools Challenge. The team have to design and race a CO2 powered high density foam car, give a presentation and exhibit a trade show style ‘pit display’. Teams are judged on many elements of their entry such as design, aerodynamics and speed and of their car.
How we're working together...
Student Motorsport and Velocity Racing are working collaboratively to raise awareness of the fantastic things that they and other pupils are achieving in the F1 in Schools competition. We also aim to reach out to potential sponsors who can support them in their competition entries by promoting each other through our various social media outlets.
We're keen to highlight the work that our respective organisations undertake to promote engineering and motorsport to as wide an audience as possible. Velocity are also assisting the promotion of various partner organisations that we both work alongside, as well as showcasing the progress of each in the future.
A word from them...
“Having qualified through to the UK finals of the challenge in February 2018 we are moving into the UK finals at of the competition which takes place at Silverstone. Our aim is to challenge for the title of UK champions and with it earn a place at the 2018 World Finals in Singapore. It has been a fantastic journey so far which has helped develop us as an effective unit whilst also contributing to our progress as individuals.
As an all-female team we are exceptionally passionate about challenging perceptions of women in engineering and motorsport and hope that our involvement in the competition will inspire other young women to consider getting involved in similar challenges and competitions. We're excited to be working with Student Motorsport as an organisation which helps to promote STEM related aspects and motorsport to a wide audience. We are really excited to form new partnerships through our involvement with them and are sure that it will be mutually beneficial for both parties."
